I’m currently — more like forever — obsessed with bazaars and outdoor markets when I travel. It’s a running joke in our family that after a few days we start to assimilate so much into the culture that we adopt new accents when haggling. So in that regard, I’ve been Thai, Indian, Italian — you name it — all to get the best price. Below are some of my favorite markets from around the world.
Chatuchak in Thailand — the food and fruits are insane!
Sarojini in New Delhi — the fabric selection is unreal. Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena – it doesn’t totally count as foreign since I lived in LA but it’s the best vintage finds in the world. Plus it’s a fun place for doing celeb spotting.
Mercado de Coyoacan in Mexico City — Frida’s hometown and kitschy fun galore.
Mercado Central in Lima — all the alpaca sweaters blankets and scarves you could dream of.
