Watch A Christmas Carol like you’ve never seen it before

9 Works Theatrical and Globe LIVE takes the Charles Dickens classic to the Philippines with a tremendous outdoor production. And yes, there will be snow.

Holiday cheer: It’s never too late to start a yearly tradition of amazing holiday musicals.

Say what you will about the routine of the holidays —  from the usual grocery shopping for Christmas eve, parties with the relatives, to the unsavory things like traffic and crowded malls — but there’s no denying that these things are more or less a part of Filipino tradition.

To those unfamiliar, A Christmas Carol is basically the story of grouchy Ebenezer Scrooge and him being visited by three ghosts on Christmas day: the ghost of Christmas past, present and future. He’s forced to reevaluate his life after the ghosts take him on a trip back to memory lane as well as show him what’s in store for in the future. While this isn’t the most festive of topics, it touches on, well, giving love on Christmas day and being grateful for what you have.

Lights out: Veteran actor Miguel Faustmann plays Ebenezer Scrooge in 9 Works Theatrical and Globe LIVE’s A Christmas Carol.
Triple threat: With a talented cast, a massive set and beautiful music, A Christmas Carol is the perfect musical to get you in the holiday spirit.

Many productions have done their version of this Charles Dickens classic, but 9 Works Theatrical and Globe LIVE takes it outdoors with their beautiful costumes, innovative set and, most importantly, fake snow. The set is impressively huge and creative with their use of projections to cast the apparitions of the ghosts in the play. A show this massive (they have a cast of 37) can afford to keep it lax in the creative department, but they always go all out. The cast, music, set and lights don’t just deliver a performance we expect from a musical of this magnitude, but they effectively transport us to the Victorian times and fill our hearts — and ears — with a much needed boost for the holidays.

While the setting is far from a classic Filipino celebration, the message remains the same: sharing and giving love the point of Christmas. Well that, and 9 Works Theatrical and Globe LIVE have started something magical. And this is something we won’t dare miss every year.

Catch 9 Works Theatrical and Globe LIVE’s A Christmas Carol on these dates: December 3-4, 9-11, 16-18, 21-22, and 25 at the Globe Iconic BHS Amphitheater, 7th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City. Get your tickets here:!
