Three years ago, when music festivals were a new local concept, Karpos Multimedia made our wildest dreams come true with their version of an outdoor concert. They swept us off our feet with a stellar lineup in their first year, which included Neon Trees, The Temper Trap and Nada Surf. The following Wanderland festivals were just as big with Kid Cudi, The Drums, Architecture in Helsinki, and Augustana visiting the country.
Just this year, they made the seemingly impossible happen and booked two heart-wrenchingly good rock bands: Death Cab for Cutie and Bon Iver. A lot cried in disbelief when Bon Iver finally sang Skinny Love in the flesh and even sampled a bit of Kanye West in his set. Death Cab for Cutie closed the tremendous show with tracks that are, strangely, romantic and haunting at the same.
Confirmed: one foreign and one local act will be joining the already stellar Wanderland 2017 lineup. Can you guess which bands in the jungle map are performing next year?
It seems like Wanderland is only getting bigger and bigger every year and we can only imagine what they have in store for us in 2017. Last month, they released their initial lineup, which includes international favorites LANY, HONNE, Explosions in the Sky, and Woodlock. Up Dharma Down will be back on the Wanderland stage and they will be joined by summer mixtape faves Urbandub, this year’s Fresh Produce Tom Story, and our favorite grammar nazi Reese Lansangan. While the musical acts are already more than what we hope for, we heard it through the grapevine that they still have more acts in store. And we’re going to let you in on the secret.
There are six bands illustrated below. Two of which –– one international and one local –– are really part of next year’s jungle-themed Wanderland. Take a look at the festival’s history and get a bit of context clue as to who’s about to rock the Filinvest City Events Ground in Alabang on March 4, 2017.
