New kids on the block: Restock and 12/10 are adding fresh blood to the already legendary Guijo Street.
At the back part of Makati is Guijo Street, often touted as a hub of local musical genius. But beyond its reputation as a gritty gig venue, Guijo hasn’t really been known for much else. Things have changed recently, though. Young folks are setting up shop in the area, and now more than ever, it’s become a place where creativity comes to chill out.
Restock is located at 7635 Guijo St., San Antonio Village, Makati City. It’s open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. For more store info, follow them @restockph on Instagram.
Part store and part art gallery, Restock is the stuff of Kinfolkian fantasies: white walls, lots of natural light, and beautiful things in every corner. Almost everything in it is for sale, from the furniture to the art hanging on the walls. Restock also sells leather satchels and wallets from The Lost Nomad, as well as notebooks and stationery from local brands like Sunday Paper and The Warehouse. Fair warning though, you might end up staying all day—Restock’s got a lot of comfy couches, and a coffee bar with great brews from Magnum Opus.
12/10 is located at 7635 Guijo St., San Antonio Village, Makati City. It’s open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. For more restaurant info, follow them @twelvetenph on Instagram.
Fans of The Girl + The Bull need not venture into the deep south (a.k.a. Parañaque) for a taste of Gab Bustos and Thea De Rivera’s culinary brilliance. They’ve now set up 12/10 in Guijo, after all. Offering something different from The Girl + The Bull, 12/10 is an izakaya restaurant—dishes are served in a particular order and in compact sizes. It’s definitely a different dining experience, and one that can be enjoyed with great company. It also won’t hurt to have a tipple over plates of otoro sashimi or mackerel ceviche: the whiskey choices might just blow your mind.
Saguijo is located at 7612 Guijo St., San Antonio Village, Makati City. For gig schedules and more info, follow them @SaguijoOfficial on Twitter.
This is the place that made Guijo the urban legend that it is. Saguijo is a cafe and bar that continues to host many of the country’s musical talents. Local acts like Up Dharma Down, Pupil, Ebe Dancel, Pulso and even up and comers like She’s Only Sixteen and Yolanda Moon have played in Saguijo’s intimate space. These days, Saguijo has become one of many other gig hotspots in the city, but it remains a pioneer. Should you plan to visit Guijo Street, a nighttime pilgrimage to this place is a must.
