The Youth is on Fire 4: An Intro

We all know the saying: the only constant is change. Perhaps we first learn the truth of this by recognizing it in ourselves, in how we grow as people, and the memories we form and lose. Then we come to see that many of the things beyond us are evidence of change—from hand-me-downs, to failed relationships, to even the fickleness of popular culture.

The theme of our latest issue is Transience. We want to know your thoughts on the temporary, on the reality that everything changes and nothing lasts forever. As always, our theme is vast and open to interpretation. We’re excited to see what creative work you’ll send in—whether it be a photograph, an illustration, a poem, a short story, a piece of nonfiction, or whatever form is best suited for what you want to convey. We’re open to new things.

If you’re interested in being part of our next issue, be sure to follow the guidelines below before submitting your work to by March 18. The clock is ticking. Good luck!

  1. In the subject field of the submission email, indicate what type of work you are sending (e.g. TYIOF submission – Essay). In the body of the email, please include a short description of the submission.
