Groups like Grrrl Gang and Catcalled in The Philippines will also be in attendance.
A lot of things come to mind when we hear the word “feminism.” Oftentimes, it is deemed an exclusive club, too aggressive, or anti-men. It has even reached to a point where feminism is seen as a trend and a marketing tool. But if you see things from a wider perspective, feminism is not just about forwarding a female agenda; it’s a human rights issue.
This is where UN Women’s HeForShe campaign comes in. It’s dedicated to gender equality, but also recognizes the need to level the playing field for women through empowerment. Lucky for us, our fave Woman, Create is back with another event to keep the passion for gender equality burning. In partnership with ASPACE Philippines, “HeForShe: Stand Together” is happening on July 15 at ASPACE Greenbelt from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
We’ve all seen the online campaigns of local feminist groups like Grrrl Gang MNL, PLUMP, Catcalled in The Philippines, and The Better Story Project. It’s about time we get to meet these amazing individuals and hear their stories IRL. Our girls Toni B. and TheSunManager are also raising their voices with musical performances along with other artists. More than just a gathering of likeminded individuals, “HeForShe: Stand Together” is a fundraising event for heforshe.org and its many international projects. You may remember HeForShe as one of Emma Watson’s biggest advocacies as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, but no part is too small to play for a cause that aims to give each and every woman what she deserves. See you there?
