The PONYxDBTK collab is all you need for Christmas.
It’s not everyday that a passion project turns into something that will churn in profit. Only a sole few achieve it with lots of hard work and heart. This is what streetwear brand Don’t Blame The Kids proves.
They’ve been on everyone’s radar in the streetwear scene since 2012. Creative partners-in-crime Emil and Vince Javier initially started the brand as a passion project, and like anyone with a burning desire to challenge the status quo — and look good doing it — they found success in just a few years. Now, they have over 61,000 Instagram followers, a global following, and a collaboration with a major international brand.
Shoe brand PONY collaborated with DBTK to redesign their classic ’85 City Wings and ’78 Shooter. The suede uppers and black textured leather on the City Wings is perfect for a more casual day-to-day look, while the Shooter’s suede leather and perforated chevron pattern fit an elevated casual vibe. Both designs have the signature PONY x DBTK logo which makes it twice as cool.
“Our collaboration with PONY will not only allow us to showcase Filipino ingenuity and creativity on an international scale, but at the same time show the world, especially the youth, how dreams can materialize if you work hard for them,” says Vince. If anything, this collaboration is a good reminder that anyone with a passion can fly to higher places.
Take a walk, my friend. You’ll get there someday.
