Enjoy a weekend of art as Art Fair Philippines returns to The Link Carpark in Makati City this Feb. 18-21. Already in its fourth year, the exhibit for the best modern and contemporary Philippine visual arts has gotten a lot bigger. It will feature works from some of the best galleries in the country and in Southeast Asia, such as Vinyl on Vinyl, Silverlens and Japan’s YOD Gallery. Art Fair Philippines 2016 has also partnered with the Ateneo Art Gallery for a series of educational talks to enrich public knowledge and experience of Philippine contemporary art. It will touch on a variety of topics from corporate art collection to modern photography, and video and new media art. Speakers include Taiwanese visual artist Michael Lin, and Leeroy New, who will join Christina Quisumbing Ramilo and Pam Yan Santos to talk about installation art.
It’s unusual, perhaps, for an exhibit to be staged in a parking garage in the middle of the busiest area in the metro, but Art Fair Philippines has always been about making art accessible to the public as well as enthusiasts. So for a regular fee of P150 (P50 for students and free for students from Makati with valid IDs), experience 40 galleries and nine special exhibits this weekend for an art education like no other.
